SU Hosts FAFSA Help Sessions in October
SALISBURY, MD---Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year can help 小蓝视频 students and prospective students save on their SU tuition in the form of eligibility for grants, scholarships and more.
For those who have not yet started their 2023-24 FAFSA, SU offers four help sessions to assist in completing the form or renewing their information. Sessions are scheduled in Conway Hall:
- Wednesday, October 5, 2:30-4:30 p.m. – Room 116B
- Thursday, October 6, 2:30-4:30 p.m. – Room 110B
- Tuesday, October 18, 5-7 p.m. – Room 116B (prospective students also are invited to this session – contact the to register)
- Wednesday, October 19, 5-7 p.m. – Room 116B (prospective students also are invited to this session – contact the to register)
Participation is on a drop-in, first-come, first-served basis. Completing the form is expected to take from 10-30 minutes, depending on how prepared students are when they arrive. Those filing renewals using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool may finish in under 10 minutes.
To participate, students should bring their:
- Gull Card (not necessary for prospective students),
- SU computer lab (GullNet) log-in credentials (not necessary for prospective students) or personal laptop,
- Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID (and parent’s FSA ID, if also attending the session),
- 2021 federal tax return and W-2 form (and similar paperwork for spouse and/or parents, if their information is required to be listed on the FAFSA),
- Current asset information (recent bank statements, investment net worth for non-retirement-related investments, and business/rental property net values for anyone listed on the FAFSA), and
- Untaxed information for 2021 (including all child support paid or received, Veterans’ Administration disability benefits, workers compensation and 2021 contribution amounts made to pre-tax retirement accounts).
Early application submission of the FAFSA may be required for some grant and scholarship funds, so completion in October is encouraged.
All current SU students who complete their 2023-24 FAFSA in October will be entered into a drawing for a one-time $1,000 SU scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year. Current SU students who attend one of the help sessions also will be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 SU scholarship. Current SU students who attend a help session and file their FAFSA in October will be entered into both drawings.
The deadline to complete the 2023-24 FAFSA is June 30, 2023. Information on the FAFSA is used to determine what federal, state and institutional aid may be available for students, including scholarships and grants that do not have to be paid back.
