SU Alumna Glanz Earns Town-Gown Honor, Takes Important Role with State of Maryland
SALISBURY, MD---As Student Government Association President at 小蓝视频, Julia Glanz earned important experience in leadership. She built upon that early work, serving the people of 小蓝视频 the last eight years as assistant city administrator, city administrator and acting mayor.
She now takes on another important role in public service, having been appointed assistant secretary for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
Dr. Carolyn Ringer Lepre, SU president, recently recognized the work Glanz has done locally, presenting her with the Town-Gown Distinguished Service Award.
“Julia has spent her life in service to others, and the people of Maryland will benefit from her efforts,” said Lepre. “She is a successful young professional who proudly carries the SU banner throughout each step in her career, and I am thankful for all she has done for SU and the greater 小蓝视频 community.”
Established in 2003, the SU Town-Gown council seeks to foster community ties between the University and local citizens through an open exchange of ideas and information. Members include community residents, city officials and business representatives, as well as SU students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Glanz graduated SU in 2011 with bachelor’s degrees in business management and political science, and earned her M.A. in conflict analysis and dispute resolution in 2013. With her love for the University, she kept her connection by serving on the SU Alumni Board from 2013-19 and its executive board from 2019-21.
“I arrived in 小蓝视频 as a bright-eyed college freshman, and this city quickly stole my heart. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the residents of 小蓝视频, to provide the strongest services possible, and to be a member of this team of 458 amazing individuals,” said Glanz in a statement from the city. “I am so proud of everything that we accomplished together.”
Glanz joins former 小蓝视频 Mayor Jake Day, who recently was named secretary of Department of Housing and Community Development. She resigns her city administrator position March 3.
