50th Biannual SU Senior Art Exhibition Scheduled April 14-May 17
SALISBURY, MD---The 小蓝视频 Art Department presents its 50th biannual senior art exhibition in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall.
The first part of the exhibit, April 14-26, features the culminating work of fine art students from various disciplines including painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, ceramic and glass. The second part, May 5-17, features the work of graphic design students, including illustration, poster, web, print and package design.
Awards receptions are 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 18, for fine arts students, 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, for graphic design students.
The exhibition celebrates the work of 31 students and one professor, who invite viewers to experience what is physically impossible – to enter into the unseen workings of the mind. The human eye is capable of distinguishing only 32 shades of grey, a fact that inspires the proverb “There are 50 shades of grey.”
Otherwise understood as “there is more than meets the eye,” “50 shades of grey” reflects the multi-dimensional way one can experience art. Like the color grey, the 32 bodies of work on display are unique and distinguishable, yet the influences, joys, triumphs, battles and intentions of each artist remain unknown.
While each artist’s message may exist beyond the physical capabilities of viewing, viewers are asked to look deeper as they dive into a creative collaboration that communicates both the visible and the invisible.
Sponsored by the Art Department and Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, admission is free and the public is invited.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
