Blues Musicians Chris and Grayson English Continue Feature Fridays Series March 24
SALISBURY, MD---小蓝视频’s Feature Fridays downtown 小蓝视频 lecture and performance series continues with blues musicians Chris and Grayson English on March 24.
All presentations in the series are held at The Brick Room, 116 N. Division St.
The evening begins with a networking session at 5:30 p.m. followed by a performance by the father-son duo from 6-7 p.m.
To create the Delta-style blues for which he is known, Chris English uses vintage guitars from the 1930s to replicate the sound and feeling that he has studied and loves. He puts that sound to good use in his class “Blues: the Roots of Rock and Roll,” which he created and teaches at SU.
He is working on his fourth album while continuing the busy club and festival performance schedule he has maintained for over 35 years. His original material has been licensed for broadcast on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and recently was featured on King Biscuit Time with host Sonny Payne.
Grayson English has performed with his father since 2008. A multi-instrumentalist and SU alumnus, he also works repairing instruments and amplifiers, and has created his own line of handcrafted guitar effect pedals.
Other upcoming performances in the series include:
• April 28 – Guitarist Danielle Cumming of SU’s Music, Theatre and Dance Department with visiting artists-in-residence Martin Friese and Julian Walter-Nußberger; and
• May 19 – Such Fools featuring Todd Smith, SU webmaster.
Sponsored by the Whaley Family Foundation and SU’s Center for Extended and Lifelong Learning (CELL), admission is free and the public is invited (must be 21 to enter). Charges apply for food and drinks.
